What Are Snack Sticks?
Snack sticks are small portions of venison packaged for easy distribution and do not require refrigeration until opened.
Mission

Goal
To provide a backpack snack to school-age children who may otherwise not have access to nutritional food over the weekend.
Why

- Child food insecurity rate in Arkansas is 23.6% — 3rd worst in the nation.
- Whitetail deer are a renewable resource high in protein and low in fat which provides essential building blocks for strong muscles.
How It Works
- Hunter harvests and donates a deer to a participating AHFH processor.
- Deer is deboned and processed into snack sticks.
- Snack sticks are distributed to elementary schools throughout Arkansas for their weekend backpack programs.
- Kids enjoy these small portions of venison which are free of artificial hormones and antibiotics.
